The block
9 1/2" finished (10" with seam allowances). 1 patches. Make 80.
Cutting chart
Cut strips across the width of fabric, then subcut. All measurements include 1/4" seam allowances.
Layer cake squares5 3/4 yd
Cut 20 strips 10" x WOF.
- Subcut 80 10" squares
Border1 3/4 yd
Cut 10 strips 5 1/2" x WOF; join them end to end, then cut the four borders to length.
Binding7/8 yd
Cut 10 strips 2 1/2" x WOF; join them on the diagonal and press in half lengthwise.
Backing, binding, batting
Backing
7 7/8 yd of 42" fabric: 3 panels 94" long, seamed crosswise, for a 94" x 113" back (4" extra on every side for the longarm or your frame). Or 3 1/4 yd of 108" wide backing, no seams.
Binding
10 strips 2 1/2" x WOF, joined on the diagonal and folded in half: 382" around the quilt plus 12" for the corners and the join.
Batting
A piece at least 94" x 113".
