The block
4 1/2" finished (5" with seam allowances). 1 patches. Make 396.
Cutting chart
Cut strips across the width of fabric, then subcut. All measurements include 1/4" seam allowances.
Charm squares7 1/8 yd
Cut 50 strips 5" x WOF.
- Subcut 396 5" squares
Border1 3/4 yd
Cut 10 strips 5 1/2" x WOF; join them end to end, then cut the four borders to length.
Binding7/8 yd
Cut 10 strips 2 1/2" x WOF; join them on the diagonal and press in half lengthwise.
Backing, binding, batting
Backing
8 1/4 yd of 42" fabric: 3 panels 99" long, seamed crosswise, for a 99" x 117" back (4" extra on every side for the longarm or your frame). Or 3 1/4 yd of 108" wide backing, no seams.
Binding
10 strips 2 1/2" x WOF, joined on the diagonal and folded in half: 400" around the quilt plus 12" for the corners and the join.
Batting
A piece at least 99" x 117".
