The block
4 1/2" finished (5" with seam allowances). 1 patches. Make 70.
Cutting chart
Cut strips across the width of fabric, then subcut. All measurements include 1/4" seam allowances.
Charm squares1 3/8 yd
Cut 9 strips 5" x WOF.
- Subcut 70 5" squares
Border5/8 yd
Cut 5 strips 3" x WOF; join them end to end, then cut the four borders to length.
Binding1/2 yd
Cut 5 strips 2 1/2" x WOF; join them on the diagonal and press in half lengthwise.
Backing, binding, batting
Backing
2 1/2 yd of 42" fabric: 2 panels 44 1/2" long, seamed crosswise, for a 44.5" x 58" back (4" extra on every side for the longarm or your frame). Or 1 5/8 yd of 108" wide backing, no seams.
Binding
5 strips 2 1/2" x WOF, joined on the diagonal and folded in half: 173" around the quilt plus 12" for the corners and the join.
Batting
A piece at least 44.5" x 58".
