3 by 5 blocks of 9", a 2 1/2" border, finished at 32" x 50". The first block most quilters learn: nine squares, two fabrics, sharp corners.

Cutting chart
Cut strips across the width of fabric, then subcut. All measurements include 1/4" seam allowances.
Prints7/8 yd
Cut 7 strips 3 1/2" x WOF.
- Subcut 75 3 1/2" squares
Background5/8 yd
Cut 5 strips 3 1/2" x WOF.
- Subcut 60 3 1/2" squares
Border5/8 yd
Cut 5 strips 3" x WOF; join them end to end, then cut the four borders to length.
Binding1/2 yd
Cut 5 strips 2 1/2" x WOF; join them on the diagonal and press in half lengthwise.
Backing, binding, batting
Backing
1 5/8 yd of 42" fabric: 1 panels 58" long, seamed lengthwise, for a 40" x 58" back (4" extra on every side for the longarm or your frame). Or 1 5/8 yd of 108" wide backing, no seams.
Binding
5 strips 2 1/2" x WOF, joined on the diagonal and folded in half: 164" around the quilt plus 12" for the corners and the join.
Batting
A piece at least 40" x 58".
